Bursting Yats’ bubble. Germany’s Foreign Minister, “I cannot see Ukraine on the way towards NATO.”

Finally some common sense emanating from German leadership…just not Angela Merkel (she appears to have checked into the neo-con insane asylum).

Germany’s Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier said in an interview with ZDF television channel that Ukraine is not getting into NATO anytime soon, and discussing the issue is just adding fuel to the fire.

ITAR TASS News Agency reports that :

“For me, Ukraine’s membership in the North Atlantic Alliance cannot be on the agenda. Anyway, I cannot see Ukraine on the way towards NATO,” he said.

The minister continued saying: “I am for transparency in this matter, as, I believe, it would not be helpful if we do not speak about it.”

It is necessary “to remain realists.”

“We are in the centre of a dangerous conflict,” the minister said.

The situation in Ukraine leaves much to be desired, but at the same time further escalation remains possible, he said. Thus, it would be necessary to explain to the public regarding which questions we should rather “not add fuel to the fire,” Frank-Walter Steinmeier said.

Its refreshing to hear some logic and common sense replace the childish and dangerous behaviour of western leaders like Abbot, Harper and McCain. Let’s hope that the real diplomats will finally show themselves and start to resolve the situation in Ukraine.
